A Nyloc Nut is a kind of locknut with a nylon collar that increases friction on the screw thread. The Nyloc nut is an economic locking nut and ideal in applications where vibration or motion could loosen or undo the nut. This nut uses a plastic/nylon insert located towards the top of the nut, reducing its inner diameter, which then deforms over the mating thread. This captures the bolt or screw, providing a locking feature causing resistance or prevailing torque – keeping the nut locked in position and resistant to vibration.

How to Tighten Nylock Nuts
When tightening screws into Nylock Nuts the force required to tighten the screws will double, when the screw reaches the Nylon in the nut. You must keep on tightening and you will see the end of the screw come through the end of the nut. Tighten with your full strength.
Nylock Nuts Uses
The Nylock nut is an economic locking nut and ideal in applications where vibration or motion could loosen or undo the nut. The nut can also be used to assist sealing the bolt thread against seepage of oil, water, petrol, paraffin and other liquids

Application of Nylock Nuts
The insert of this nut is positioned at the end of the nut and its inner diameter is bit smaller than the entire diameter of the screw. The nuts is applied in two ways they are as follows. Firstly, the nut pushes the end part of the screw threads against the head of the nut threads, thereby enhancing the friction between the two. Secondly, the nylon component employs a compact force against the rivet itself.
Nylock Nuts Specifications
The nylon component of the nyloc nut has a smaller inside diameter than the actual nut, thereby locking the fastener in place by gripping the nylon firmly around the bolt when fastened. Unlike a common locking washer, this particular metal piece stops the nut from loosening due to vibration, as the nylon is firmly wedged into the threads, thereby offering enough resistance to movement.

Stainless Steel Nylock Nuts Design
Stainless Steel Nylock Nuts mainly has a wide variety of designs. Depending on the use of the nut the shape and other features are designed. The purpose of these designs is that the nuts are useful for the bolts that will be used to tighten them. For instance, in some cases the square nuts are used to tighten the parts with the square bolts. Each nuts fastener has a different specification and design. Each nuts fastener also has a different use for which they are designed. Such as Hex Nuts, it has a shape designed in the shape of a ‘Hex’ from which its name derives.
